to second grade
Hello, my name is Ms. Findel. I am a second-grade teacher at Make Believe Elementary School. This is my first year teaching and I am excited to start this journey of learning and growth with your child. This class website is to provide a way to stay connected with families, keep families and students updated on homework and events as well as house the students 'blog​' about their learning for their families to see.
A Little About Me:
I graduated from SUNY Cortland in Fall 2018 after completing my student teaching back at home in en elementary school on Long Island. Before SUNY Cortland I attended Suffolk County Community College and majored in Child Studies, where I fell in love with education of young children.
This year we will be exploring the wonders of Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading and Writing through hands on experiences that will allow your child to explore their curiosity about the world around them. I also believe it is important for students to keep their bodies healthy and safe. Throughout the year we will incorporate healthy habits and activities. We will also be incorporating technology into our learning to prepare your child for the ever changing world they are growing in.
I am a big believer in educating children beyond the classroom. We will use the community and resources available to learn and demonstrate our learning. I believe students should enjoy coming to school. They spend most of their time here, why shouldn't they enjoy their time here. To ensure this, I believe the classroom should be a place where every students feels comfortable to learn to their full potential. In my class we follow a set of rules to ensure everyone can learn their best. We are responsible, respectful and we are prepared. At the begining of the year, as a class, we discuss what these rules mean and how they can be shown in our classroom.

I am believe that families are the first teachers. Children learn so much about themselves and the world around them before entering school. I think it is important for me, as a teacher, to keep families updated on their child's progress in school. I think open and honest communication between the teacher and families is very imports for a child's growth and development.
